The masthead is a bold red, black and yellow combination to stand out against the pale blue background. The main image is of Johnny Depp as one of his most iconic and well-known characters jack sparrow for the release of the 2011 film pirates of the Caribbean: on stranger tides. It has cover lines referring to the new cast members, the new captain America, transformers 3 and more well known and loved movie franchises and films. It has no supporting images as the main one takes up the majority of the page layout on this cover. The colour schemes used are to create a contrast between the character and the information which is being conveyed on the cover. It would also gather more attention due to the ‘essential 2011 preview’. This would grab people attention as it may be information about films or other interesting factors such as maybe release dates or interviews or a preview of the films. This cover also has what is known as a puff which is the little circle on the side of the picture which has an exclusive article in it.
