research for print planning pt 3
Total Film is a British film magazine published 13 times a
year and it publishes monthly and a summer issue is added every year since
issue 91, 2004. The colour schemes used inn this poster match the theme and
idea of the film. This poster is on the film Cruella so the colour scheme for
the background and the title matches her signature colours. The masthead is in
white with black spots to symbolize the dalmatians used in both the original
and the remake of the film 101 dalmatians which this film is a follow up from.
The red background gives a contrast against the black and white used in the
main picture of the character/actress and it is also a statement colour from
the lipstick as well. The typeface for this magazine is quite bold to catch
attention and with the composition of it being placed above the main image
creates the contrast with the majority of the text being in white to stand out.
It has two supporting images of two other characters relating to the main image
for example the one or Harley Quinn in the bottom right corner is celebrating
female roles and actresses in the film industry. The cover lines would be based
on other film and series that are either coming out or also possible new songs
or films. It has the ‘selling point’ of having an exclusive on-set section
which would be the only one you would be able to find that in. the target
audience for this film would be teenage to young adult females and the older
gen as it is probable that they have watched the original film of 101
dalmatians which Cruella is a spin off from.
